Walking past Sawyers Delicatessen this morning I noticed that they are now selling rattlesnake for the barbeque. I thought it must be a joke until I googled this. Has anyone eaten rattlesnake? (I really have no plans to try it!)
I would like to draw people's attention to this Missing Kids It was brought to my attention by a visitor to my blog and I would like to take the opportunity to spread it further. Please give it a bit of space - I think it is a good idea and should be extended outside the USA. Thank you.
Not sure about tequila. I think with barbequed rattlesnake we'd need something equally appalling to drink. Perhaps one of these: http://www.thegreenhead.com/watercooler/2005/11/2005-jones-soda-holiday-packs-new.php (Smoked salmon pate flavoured soda anyone?)
Yes, I've eaten rattlesnake. . .tastes like chicken. ;^) I once worked atop a high desert mountain where they were common. I nearly marched a group of children over a 6 foot long one as I was reading a letter while walking them from a swimming lake back to their cabins. Some other staff drove by us in a truck, saw the snake ahead on the dirt road, and killedit with a shovel. The horse wranglers cooked the snake over an open fire that night and we all tried some. The kids got to rattle the tail, and the skin when stretched on a board was six inches across the mid section. A lot of meat on one snake. I imagine it seems even more exotic in a Belfast shop window! -Kim
Oh Kim, love your story about the rattlesnakes. Also good to know it tastes like chicken (why does everything taste like chicken??)- I definitely won't have to try it now.

I've tried buffalo, venison and ostrich before....but I'm going to have to pass on the rattlesnake. It just sounds creepy.
