the car ferry

Waiting at Portaferry for the ferry over to Strangford earlier this afternoon. The trip takes about 5 minutes and costs £6.10 for a car and one passenger. I wouldn't like to be doing this every day.

Isn't it possible to build a bridge ? But maybe they consider there isn't enough traffic to build one.
There are several ones to cross the Seine too, and according to this page :
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacs_de_la_Seine
the trips are now free.
£6.10, this is rather expensive, I think so too.
We had to take one of them during the "Armada" (Rouen) in 2003, (and at that time, it was not free, but can't remember how much it was).
If you want to know more about the "Armada" which is a great event :

the Armada looks wonderful - the closest we've had here is the occasional visit of the 'tall ships'.

quite pricey! but, to get to the other side I suppose it's worth the cost. Our ferries here in Seattle, WA are expensive, but the distances are somewhat greater. 15 - 60 minutes depending on where.

I think £6.10 is little expensive for that ride.

Beautiful ferry pic!. But don't you think £6.10 is too much for 5 minutes ride? In UK we get cheap cross channel ferriesfrom Uk to France and they provide quite comfortable ride.
