A trip down to Dublin yesterday - this is the Dublin Spire, the fabulous 120 metre high sculpture in O'Connell Street. If you ever visit Dublin it is really worth seeking out - it is a stunning object, and if you stand right at the base, and look up, it is dizzying.

beautiful picture of a great feat of engeneering... but doesn't it look a bit like a spare part left behind in a building site?
I guess so, but I do find it really uplifting (especially coming from Belfast where we seem to specialise in duff sculpture, eg. the lady with the loop
